The Secret to Perfectly Green and Flavorful Mint Chocolate Kiss Blossom Cookies Dough
Achieving that vibrant, holiday-ready green in your Mint Chocolate Kiss Blossom Cookies starts with the right food coloring – gel food coloring is my secret weapon for intense, consistent color without watering down the dough. But beyond the hue, it’s the balance of mint extract that truly elevates these treats. Too little, and it’s lost; too much, and it tastes like toothpaste! My family secret is to add it gradually, tasting a tiny bit of the dough (before eggs!) to hit that sweet spot. Remember, Bake Mode encourages you to trust your senses and adjust to your liking.
Baking Perfection: Achieving the Ideal Texture for Your Mint Chocolate Kiss Blossom Cookies
The magic of a blossom cookie lies in its tender, slightly chewy texture that yields beautifully to the chocolate kiss. For our Mint Chocolate Kiss Blossom Cookies, precise baking time is key. Over-baked cookies lose their delightful softness, becoming dry and crumbly. I’ve learned through countless kitchen adventures that pulling them out just as the edges are set but the centers still look slightly soft will result in the perfect chewiness. They’ll continue to set on the hot baking sheet, so don’t be tempted to leave them in too long! This is where Bake Mode truly shines.

The Art of the ‘Kiss’: Placing the Chocolate in Your Mint Chocolate Kiss Blossom Cookies
The iconic chocolate kiss is what makes these Mint Chocolate Kiss Blossom Cookies truly special. The trick here is timing. You don’t want to press the chocolate into raw dough, and you certainly don’t want to wait until the cookies are completely cool. The sweet spot is right after they come out of the oven. The warmth of the freshly baked cookie dough will soften the chocolate just enough for it to meld beautifully, creating that signature slightly melted peak without turning into a puddle. Gently press each kiss into the center, and let them cool together.
Elevating Your Mint Chocolate Kiss Blossom Cookies: Flavor Twists and Toppings
While the classic Mint Chocolate Kiss Blossom Cookies are a triumph on their own, a true kitchen adventurer knows the joy of a little twist! Consider swapping out the classic milk chocolate kisses for dark chocolate for a richer, more sophisticated flavor profile, or even white chocolate for a creamier contrast. For an extra festive touch, you could drizzle them with melted white chocolate and sprinkle with green or iridescent edible glitter. Bake Mode is all about playful experimentation, so don’t be afraid to make these cookies uniquely yours!

Storing and Sharing Your Delicious Mint Chocolate Kiss Blossom Cookies
These delightful Mint Chocolate Kiss Blossom Cookies are perfect for sharing, but knowing how to store them ensures every bite is as fresh as the first. Once completely cooled, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days. If you’re planning ahead, they also freeze wonderfully for up to a month – just thaw at room temperature before serving. Nothing makes me happier in Bake Mode than seeing friends and family light up when they bite into one of these homemade treasures, especially when they know the love that went into them.

kcalSoft, chewy, and wonderfully minty green cookies, topped with a classic chocolate kiss. Perfect for St. Patrick’s Day or any day you need a little bit of magic!
Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar, plus more for rolling
1 large egg
1 teaspoon mint extract
1/2 teaspoon green gel food coloring
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
36 Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped (milk chocolate or mint chocolate flavored)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and 1 cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then the mint extract and green gel food coloring until well combined and a vibrant green.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls. Roll each ball in extra granulated sugar to coat evenly. Place on prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until edges are set but centers are still slightly soft. Remove from oven and immediately press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each hot cookie. The chocolate will soften.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. The chocolate will firm up as they cool.
Notes
- For a deeper mint flavor, try using peppermint extract, but start with a smaller amount (1/2 teaspoon) and add more to taste, as it can be stronger than mint extract.
- Chilling the dough for 30 minutes can make it easier to handle, especially if your kitchen is warm.
- To prevent cookies from spreading too much, ensure your butter is softened but not melted, and measure your flour accurately.
